Rodents: The Unwanted Guests

Did you know that rodents cause billions of dollars of damage each year worldwide and are carriers of many dangerous and deadly diseases? In buildings, rodents cause damage to doors, floors, ceilings and walls as a result of their burrowing and gnawing. They regularly gnaw on various utility pipes and electrical wiring, resulting in explosions, indoor flooding, fires, equipment malfunctions and power shortages.
Nests are usually close to food sources. You will find piles of rodent droppings and a strong odor. They like to feed at night, usually at dusk and again shortly before dawn. Rodents have poor vision and they rely on touch and hearing. Their sense of smell is their most important sense, and they mark objects and pathways with urine.
Rodents spread diseases by urinating on literally thousands of surfaces while foraging in homes, schools and offices. They have become more of a health problem in recent years and can trigger asthma and allergic rhinitis in susceptible people. They also are carriers of salmonella.
