VIP PEST CONTROL FINDS TERMITES
WITH ITS TERMITE K-9
Tampa, FL, March 19, 2010 – VIP Pest Control is ready for a busy termite swarm season. The Tampa-based pest control company is ready to utilize its termite dog, Hunter to detect termite infestations that are difficult to find.
President/CEO, Vicki J. Hutto has been working with Hunter and his trainer, Robert Dills for several years. Ms. Hutto said, “We bring in Hunter when we know that there is an infestation, but can’t visually pinpoint its location.” Often there will be signs of termite activity, such as dropped wings and droppings that resemble sawdust. Since termites are drawn to light when they mate, their colony could be in a completely different part of the building.
Hunter, a six-year old beagle, was trained using the same methods as bomb and drug sniffing K-9’s by renowned termite dog trainer Bill Whistine. The University of Florida tested his accuracy and Hunter achieved a 98% accuracy rate in finding termites. “There have been cases where the odor has been so strong, that Hunter started whining as soon as he got to the front door,” stated Ms. Hutto.
